Agentic AI Success Requires Ontology First

AI1 min read

Yu Seung-jae, CEO of Persona AI, says companies need an "ontology" before AI agents can work well. An ontology is a clear map of how data is connected and what it means.

What happened

At a forum at the National Assembly on the 5th, Yu Seung-jae argued that companies do not lack data. Their data does not have defined relationships or meanings, so AI agents cannot work efficiently. He said an ontology is essential. He also pointed to Palantir as a leading example of "hyperautomation," where machines handle more and more of the work on their own.

Key numbers and facts

  • Gartner expects the hyperautomation market to reach about 1,644 trillion won (about $1.2 trillion) by 2028.
  • Palantir's company value is about 473 trillion won.
  • Palantir's annual sales doubled in three years, to about 3 trillion won.
  • Wendy's purchasing co-op used Palantir's AI platform from 2024 to view inventory and logistics data for more than 6,400 stores in the U.S. and Canada.

Background

AI agents are programs that can carry out tasks on their own. To do that well, they must understand how different pieces of data fit together. Persona AI started with software built for individual clients, then moved to subscription services, and now works on hyperautomation. It says it delivered the first AI agent in Korea's finance sector to KB Securities.

Why it matters

Many companies think that having lots of data is enough. This story says the real problem is that data is not connected in a way that makes sense. If an ontology links orders, stock, shipping, and demand, an AI agent can find which stores are at risk, rank the urgent problems, and suggest fixes. Without that link, people still have to check each system and hold meetings.

What to watch

  • Whether Persona AI's physical AI projects in Jeonbuk and Gyeongnam move forward as planned.
  • How Korean manufacturers use Persona AI's models and agents on factory floors.
  • Whether companies that build ontologies see faster or more accurate AI results.

Conductor's hosted Conductor Cloud will go read-only on November 13 and shut down on November 20, while its macOS app will keep working for the next few months and receive no new models or critical bug fixes from early 2027. The deal has no announced price, and a Meta spokesperson declined to say more beyond saying it will strengthen the company's developer-oriented AI capabilities.

Cisco Assigns Gen Z Employee to Rewrite 98% of Legacy Code

Cisco Chair and Chief Product Officer Jeetu Patel has tasked 27-year-old Padmanabhan Krishnamurthy, who joined Cisco last year after the company acquired his translation startup EzDubs, with rewriting 98% of Cisco's legacy code within 24 months. Patel gave him four weeks to prove the idea and unlimited tokens, saying he wants to challenge the status quo with fresh perspectives. The story notes that several other leaders, including Thrive Capital's Josh Kushner and Alon Chen of Tastewise, are also seeking young employees, while AI-related job postings still skew heavily toward senior roles.

Building AI factories at enterprise scale

A sponsored feature describes how enterprises are increasingly building their own AI infrastructure, driven by data control needs in regulated sectors and the rise of agentic AI. ASUS has unveiled a three-layer Enterprise Agentic AI Solution, announced at NVIDIA's GTC Berlin event, spanning AI servers, a software stack, and a services hub. The company says agentic workloads are increasingly CPU-dependent, which creates bottlenecks in conventional GPU-focused servers.
