Building AI factories at enterprise scale

AI2 min read

ASUS is pushing a full package of AI servers, software and services for companies that want to run their own AI. The offer was announced at NVIDIA's GTC show in Berlin in October.

What happened

ASUS, a computer hardware maker, is selling a complete AI package to businesses. At NVIDIA's GTC show in Berlin on October 21-22, it announced an offer called the Enterprise Agentic AI Solution. It has three parts: new and existing AI servers, software to manage AI work, and a services team that ties everything together. ASUS says companies now want to run AI in their own buildings instead of only in the cloud.

Key numbers and facts

  • The worldwide server market grew 30 percent in one year, to $122.6bn in the first quarter of 2025, according to the analyst firm IDC.
  • IDC expects inference (the step where a trained AI model answers questions) to be more than 70 percent of computing demand by next year.
  • The offer has three layers: AI Server and Infrastructure, AI Software Stack, and AI HUB.
  • The GTC show in Berlin took place on October 21-22.

Why companies build their own AI

Until now, most big AI computing ran in huge cloud data centers run by large providers. Now many companies want their own AI systems. Some reasons are control over their data, especially in fields like finance, healthcare, manufacturing and government, and predictable costs. The article also says AI is moving from simple chatbots to AI agents. These agents plan tasks, run code and use outside tools, and they depend heavily on CPUs (the main processing chips in a computer).

Why it matters

Companies need AI fast, but they also need help keeping AI systems running over time. ASUS argues that older AI servers were built mainly around GPUs (chips that handle many calculations at once). As agent work grows, the CPU becomes a bottleneck, which can leave expensive GPUs waiting. If ASUS can solve this, it may win business as AI moves into company data centers, factories and developer desks.

What to watch

  • Whether companies choose ASUS's full package over buying parts from many different suppliers.
  • How well the new servers handle CPU-heavy agent work in real use.
  • How fast ASUS can deliver systems, since memory and CPU supply are tight.
  • Whether this trend of enterprise-owned AI keeps growing, as IDC predicts.

Apple is reportedly cutting budgets for its internal AI usage

Bloomberg reported that Apple is cutting the daily amount its engineering teams can spend on AI, lowering the cap from $300 to $200 in October, with some allowances expected to fall to $100 a day. Apple is also reportedly weighing a daily limit as low as $25 for staff outside engineering. The move comes as companies reconsider the costs of AI tools after a short-lived push to maximize token usage.
