SoftwareFirst seen 36 points
GMO Internet Group is asking customers of its "Onamae.com Desktop Cloud" service to act now. A third party gained unauthorized access to the service, and the company wants users to scan their devices and change their passwords.
What happened
GMO Internet has been reporting on unauthorized access to its "Onamae.com Desktop Cloud" service since October 21, 2026. This is the fifth update. The company says it is still investigating. To stop more harm, it asks customers to check their own devices and back up their data right away.
What customers should do right away
- Run a full scan of your phone and computers with antivirus software.
- Back up your data, but be careful with the backup files.
- If you use a trading tool (such as MT4 or MT5) through a securities or FX company, change your trading account and tool passwords from a device you do not use for FX trading.
- End all logged-in sessions, and contact your broker if needed.
- Check your trading history and balance. If you see trades you do not recognize, contact your broker first.
Why the steps are needed
Attackers who break into a system can steal login details. People often reuse passwords, so one stolen password can open other accounts. Even after a password change, some broker servers keep old connections open for a while, so a stranger could keep trading. That is why the company asks users to end all sessions too. Also, if someone claiming to be the attacker sends an email or message, do not open links or files and do not reply.
Why it matters
This matters because the stolen information could be used for more attacks, including money theft through trading accounts. The company says the steps are precautions to prevent further damage. Customers who follow them can lower their risk while the investigation continues.
