SBT Global Completes Financial Accounting System Upgrade for KEPCO Engineering & Construction

Software1 min read

SBT Global, an IT solutions company, says it finished upgrading the accounting system of Korea Electric Power Engineering (KEPCO E&C). The project moved the company's ERP system to the newest version of SAP and was finished two weeks early.

What happened

SBT Global said it completed a project to upgrade the financial accounting management system (iKOER) for Korea Electric Power Engineering. The company moved the old ERP system, which manages a business's core work such as money and resources, to the latest version, SAP S/4HANA 2025. SBT Global did the whole job alone over about eight months, starting in March. It also replaced old hardware, moved systems to a virtual setup, and rebuilt the web portal so users can reach it more easily. The company also added its own data-scrambling tool, CubeOne, to improve security.

Key numbers and facts

  • Project length: about 8 months, starting in March
  • Planned go-live date: September 21
  • Actual go-live date: September 7, two weeks early
  • Stabilization period after launch: about 10 days, with a dedicated help desk
  • Said to be the first public institution in Korea to use SAP S/4HANA 2025

Background

Many large organizations use ERP systems to run their daily work. These systems need to be updated from time to time, but switching to a new version can cause errors or downtime. SBT Global said it reduced this risk by testing each step in advance and by checking possible problems before the switch.

Why it matters

This project shows that a public organization can move to a new, complex business system on schedule and without major failures. For SBT Global, it is proof of its skills, and it plans to use this experience to win more public-sector digital transformation projects and business-to-business (B2B) IT work.

What to watch

  • Whether the system keeps running smoothly over the long term
  • Whether SBT Global wins new public-sector digital transformation projects
  • Whether its CubeOne security tool is used in other public or corporate projects

Linus Torvalds says Linux kernel is out of ‘stabilization phase’ and using ‘much healthier model’ for AI contributions

Linus Torvalds has posted the first release candidate for Linux kernel 7.4 and said the project has found a "much healthier model" for AI-related work. The merge window contained almost 20,000 commits, compared with the usual ~15,000, which he hopes reflects AI fixes becoming part of normal development rather than a flood of fixes during stabilization. He also noted that AI-suggested patches "often get rewritten," and said AMD GPU register changes made up a third of the release.

A fully playable version of Portal prequel F-Stop leaked

Leakers have pieced together a nearly complete, playable version of F-Stop, the canceled Portal prequel. Most assets came from a 12-terabyte leak in August, and the missing source code and map data reportedly surfaced on the Valve Cut Content Discord this week. The game centers on a camera mechanic that captures items in photos and places them elsewhere, and its full campaign runs under an hour.

Here’s what ‘renoa’ — the first new fiber in 25 years — feels like

Everbloom has developed renoa, a fiber made from waste protein such as cashmere and wool scraps and bedding-industry feather lint, blended with a biodegradable biopolymer. The U.S. Federal Trade Commission recently approved it as the first new fiber classification in 25 years. A reviewer who tested a renoa-cashmere 80/20 blend said it felt very close to real cashmere, and the first consumer products are expected to reach the market in the second quarter of 2027.

Missing Link: Inverted Mouse Controls – is the 1990s to blame?

Inverted vertical aiming, where pushing the mouse forward looks up instead of down, was once common among top players such as Johnathan "Fatal1ty" Wendel, who used it in Quake. Today almost no professional players invert the Y-axis, and the article explores why the practice has become rare. It also notes that many current games make inversion hard to set up, and that Professor Jochen Koubek finds it feels natural because of embodiment.
