Duksan NEXCORE to Present GNSS Research at IPNT Conference

Space1 min read

Duksan NEBCOARS, a company that makes special navigation and anti-jamming systems, will present satellite navigation research at the 2026 IPNT conference in Jeju. The event runs from March 3 to 7.

What happened

Duksan NEBCOARS said it will share its research on GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System, the technology behind GPS-style location) at the '2026 IPNT Conference' in Jeju. The conference is organized by the Navigation System Society. Its theme this year is 'Connecting Time and Widening Space: The Future of the K-PNT Ecosystem.' Park Gui-woo, a director at Duksan NEBCOARS, will chair two sessions: one on jamming countermeasures on March 5 and one on receivers and antennas on March 6.

Key facts

  • The conference runs from March 3 to 7, 2026, in Jeju.
  • Duksan NEBCOARS will chair sessions on March 5 and March 6.
  • The company has supplied satellite navigation receivers for Naro and Nuri rockets, launches 1 to 5 of Nuri included.
  • It also supplies anti-jamming satellite navigation solutions for defense use.

Some background

Satellite navigation helps find where things are. Radio jamming can block or confuse these signals, so anti-jamming technology is important. PNT stands for positioning, navigation and timing. K-PNT is a Korean effort to build a wider ecosystem of these technologies.

Why it matters

Reliable satellite navigation is needed for rockets, satellites and defense systems. Duksan NEBCOARS says its work on jamming defense and high-precision navigation can help build Korea's K-PNT ecosystem. Its research with Chungnam National University covers orbit prediction for low-Earth-orbit satellites and a comparison of multiple GNSS systems with SBAS (a satellite-based correction system that makes positions more accurate).

What to watch

  • The research results presented at the IPNT conference on March 5 and 6.
  • Whether the company's receiver tests on roll angle (how far a device tilts side to side) are shared in more detail.
  • New defense or space contracts that use its anti-jamming technology.

"At Home in Space" opens, caps Air and Space Museum renovation

After seven years of work and nearly $1 billion, the Smithsonian has completed the renovation of the National Air and Space Museum's flagship building in Washington, DC. On October 30, the museum opened its last spaceflight exhibition, "At Home in Space," which focuses on long-duration spaceflight, from the space shuttle era through the International Space Station and the next steps beyond it.

NASA hopes the commercial space industry can help save Hubble

Hubble's orbit is slowly decaying, and without a boost its operations could end in the early to mid 2030s. NASA is seeking private-sector proposals for cost-effective ways to extend the telescope's life, with the Request for Information open through November 30 at 3 PM ET. NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman said Hubble still has important science ahead and the agency should explore every reasonable option.

Google's AI Satellite Sends First Data

Google's AI satellite has sent its first data generated by the onboard software and hardware, though it is still far from the orbital AI data centers the industry envisions. The satellite, named "MVP," launched on October 1 aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket, and its Gemma 4 model produced a three-line poem that was sent to Earth. Google plans to study how radiation and heat affect the AI accelerators, which cannot run for more than 15 minutes at a time before needing cooling, and aims to operate two linked satellites in 2027.

Google's AI satellite sends a very expensive haiku to Earth

Google's experimental Suncatcher orbital datacenter satellite, launched at the start of the month, returned a haiku generated by its onboard Gemma 4 model in response to a ground-station prompt. Google says the satellite's TPU hardware reached its "Hello World" milestone, and the company is now testing radiation and thermal tolerance. Google estimates that launch costs could fall to a level that makes orbital datacenters comparable to terrestrial electricity spending by about 2035.
