Titan OS raises $46 million to expand its smart TV OS internationally

Software1 min read

Titan OS, a smart TV software company based in Barcelona, has raised $46 million to grow in more countries. The money is a mix of equity (ownership shares) and debt (borrowed money).

What happened

Titan OS announced that it raised $46 million. The money comes from debt loans from funds managed by BlackRock. Existing investors Highland Europe and Mangrove Capital Partners also took part. The company says it wants to grow faster, make more partnerships, and enter more regions.

Key numbers

  • New funding: $46 million
  • Money raised last year: $58 million
  • Total raised so far: $110 million
  • Users served now: 30 million, up from 18 million last year
  • Staff: 250 people, after growing the team in the past year

How the business works

Titan OS makes the software that runs smart TVs. TV makers use it because it can earn money after a TV is sold. It does this through free channels supported by ads, called FAST channels, and through ads shown on the screen. The company has added partners such as Sharp, AOC, Vestel, and Skyworth. Dutch maker Philips switched to Titan OS and dropped Google TV for its 2026 models.

Why it matters

TV hardware makes little profit, and rising chip prices from the AI boom are adding cost. TV makers want ways to earn money after the sale, so software partners like Titan OS are becoming more useful. The company also says it does not make its own content, so it can recommend shows fairly, unlike rivals that push people toward their own apps like YouTube.

What to watch

  • How the new money is used to improve content discovery with AI
  • Whether more TV makers switch from Google TV to Titan OS
  • Results of the new London office, which focuses on advertising
  • Growth in new countries and new partners

VMware returns to low-end server virtualization with 'vSphere Express'

VMware has re-entered the low-end server virtualization market with vSphere Express, which runs on up to 128 processor cores and includes vMotion, automated restart of failed VMs, a distributed switch, non-disruptive patching, and virtual TPM support. Each instance is discrete and cannot be managed centrally, and it will be sold through distributors' cloud marketplaces on a per-core subscription at a price "significantly lower" than VVF or VCF. VMware also added disaster recovery and policy-based networking to VVF and VCF, which were previously add-ons.
