God of War Laufey delayed until May

Software1 min read

God of War Laufey, a new game from Santa Monica Studio, has been pushed back. It will now come out on May 20, 2027, instead of February 16.

The release date moves

Santa Monica Studio said the PlayStation 5 game will now launch on May 20, 2027. It was first set to release on February 16. The studio said it needs more time to add the final touches and make the game as good as it can be.

Key facts

  • Old release date: February 16
  • New release date: May 20, 2027
  • Platform: PlayStation 5
  • The game was revealed in June
  • A gameplay reveal lasted 23 minutes earlier this year

About the game

Laufey is a God of War game. It stars Faye, the wife of Kratos, who is the main hero of the earlier God of War games. Deborah Ann Woll plays Faye again. The new gameplay looks different from recent God of War games, with more focus on acrobatic moves, which means flips and jumps.

Why it matters

Fans waited a long time for this game, and now they must wait longer. The studio says the delay will give the team time to polish the game. It shows that the studio cares more about quality than about meeting an early date.

What to watch for

  • More updates from Santa Monica Studio, which said it will share more soon
  • Whether the May 2027 date holds
  • More gameplay details about the acrobatic action

VMware returns to low-end server virtualization with 'vSphere Express'

VMware has re-entered the low-end server virtualization market with vSphere Express, which runs on up to 128 processor cores and includes vMotion, automated restart of failed VMs, a distributed switch, non-disruptive patching, and virtual TPM support. Each instance is discrete and cannot be managed centrally, and it will be sold through distributors' cloud marketplaces on a per-core subscription at a price "significantly lower" than VVF or VCF. VMware also added disaster recovery and policy-based networking to VVF and VCF, which were previously add-ons.
