Tin Men Capital Leads US$7.4 Million Series A for Vision AI Startup Ailytics to Expand Across APAC, the US and the Gulf Region

AI2 min read

Ailytics, a Singapore startup that turns old security cameras into real-time safety and operations tools for heavy industry, raised US$7.4 million in a Series A round led by Tin Men Capital. The money will help it grow in the US, Japan, Australia, and the Gulf region.

What happened

Ailytics raised US$7.4 million in a Series A round led by Tin Men Capital. SEEDS, a unit of SG Growth Capital, Safie (Japan's biggest cloud camera company), one of Japan's largest construction firms, and family offices and existing investors also joined. The company says it will use the money to strengthen its local teams in the US, Japan, Australia, and the Gulf region.

Key numbers

  • US$7.4 million: size of the new Series A round
  • US$2.7 million: size of the pre-Series A round Tin Men Capital led in April 2024
  • 4 countries and 70 projects before the pre-Series A round; 15 countries and more than 400 installations now
  • Customers include NatSteel, PaxOcean, DHL, Rome's Leonardo da Vinci airport, and the construction site of Changi Airport Terminal 5
  • Founded in Singapore in 2021

Background

Ailytics started with public housing projects in Singapore. It now runs its system at large sites on four continents. Its product Ailyssa can understand 3D space from a single 2D video. It works with old cameras even in rain, dust, and poor light. Its newer reasoning engine, AilyssaX, looks at what is happening in a moving scene and checks whether steps in a multi-step process were done. This helps it send more accurate and useful alerts.

Why it matters

Many factories, ports, and building sites already have cameras, so Ailytics can add AI safety checks without new hardware. The investors say the company has strong unit economics and a customer churn rate below 1%. The co-founders say the funding will let them build their own AI models for industry and keep AI running costs low as demand grows.

What to watch

  • Whether Ailytics opens and grows its teams in the US, Japan, Australia, and the Gulf region
  • Progress on its own domain-specific reasoning models
  • Whether the number of installations and countries keeps growing past 15 countries and 400 projects

Bill Gates warns of 20 years of upheaval before AI brings abundance

Bill Gates says AI will eventually usher in a "true age of abundance," but the transition could be highly disruptive, with clear winners and losers. He argues that robots and AI could replace many physical and office jobs, and suggests reserving certain activities such as art, sports, cooking, and childcare for humans. Other tech leaders, including Dario Amodei and Elon Musk, have also warned of short-term job disruption and proposed responses such as government subsidies.

Selectstar Unveils AI Model Auto-Selection Tech, Cutting Costs by 28%

Selectstar has released Davi, a judgment-specialized AI model that analyzes questions to choose the appropriate AI model, evaluate AI answers, and predict whether an AI agent will succeed at a task. In its own tests on 174 difficult Korean Q&A items repeated five times, Davi-based model selection reached 71.1% accuracy at about 28% lower cost than using only Opus, the highest-performing model. The company notes these results are from its own evaluation and that further validation is needed for real-world services.

Limits of local AI: What iPhone, Galaxy, Pixel and iPad can do

Local AI can now transcribe recordings on current high-end iPhone, Galaxy and Pixel devices in 2026, but summarizing or translating documents shows what a device computes itself versus what it sends to a server. Apple's Siri AI launched with iOS 27 in English only, with five more languages announced for October, excluding German, and it is not available on iPhone and iPad in the EU. Memory prices are also rising sharply, and local language models must fit entirely in RAM, so mid-range and entry-level devices face tighter limits.

Will AI Make Engineer Staffing Obsolete? Companies Share Their On-the-Ground View, with Clearly Shifting Demand for Talent

At Japan IT Week Autumn 2026, several engineer staffing and recruitment firms reported no decline in demand, even as some clients question whether AI can replace engineering work. Companies say the skills they are seeking are changing: less demand for people who only write code to instructions, and more for those who can direct and govern AI, while communication and leadership skills gain importance.
