S-Fintech Technology Earns Microsoft Azure Data Analytics Expertise Certification

Software1 min read

S&P Fintech Technology, a cloud and AI platform company, has earned a Microsoft certification for Azure data analytics. The firm plans to grow from moving customers to the cloud into building data analysis and AI platforms.

What happened

S&P Fintech Technology said on the 3rd that it received Microsoft's 'Analytics on Microsoft Azure' advanced technical skills certification. The certification goes to partners that are skilled in data analysis on Azure, moving data into data warehouses, and business intelligence (BI, tools that turn data into useful reports). Microsoft checks past customer projects, system design skills, and the know-how of the company's technical staff.

Key facts

  • The company earned this certification in addition to an earlier one in May for Azure migration of infrastructure and databases.
  • The May certification proved it could move cloud infrastructure and databases. This new one proves it can build platforms that analyze and use the moved data.
  • The company plans to use Microsoft Fabric and Azure Databricks to help businesses modernize their data platforms and adopt AI.

Background

Many companies are moving their computer systems from their own servers to the cloud, which means storing and running them on the internet through services like Microsoft Azure. Once data is in the cloud, companies want to analyze it and use AI. S&P Fintech Technology has worked on data platforms and data management for customers in many industries.

Why it matters

The story shows that a smaller Korean IT company can now help customers go past simply moving to the cloud. It can also help them use their data for analysis and AI. CEO Lee Seung-geun said that success with AI depends on how well companies prepare and use their data.

What to watch

  • Whether the company wins new AI and data platform projects with Korean companies.
  • How it uses Microsoft Fabric and Azure Databricks in real customer work.
  • Whether it earns more Microsoft certifications in the future.

Architect creates open-source replacement for VM migration tool VMware has hidden

Cloud architect Andrija Panić has released OpenVDDK, an open-source, Apache-licensed drop-in replacement for VMware's Virtual Disk Development Kit (VDDK), which VMware restricted to partners in August. The tool is written in Go with a C layer exposing VMware's library interface, and it can read but not write virtual disks for backup and migration. Panić says it has been tested on several vSphere versions and reportedly used in production, though he notes these reports are not independently audited.

Googling "Zelda" today offers a glimpse of how search worked in 1998

Searching "Zelda" or "Ocarina of Time" on Google triggers a search Easter egg that transforms the results page into a retro 1998-style layout. An animated Master Sword in the corner activates a time-skipping animation, leading to a simple list of blue links with retro Google branding. The page shows seven curated links, such as Nintendo's official Zelda page, Wikipedia, and Amazon, rather than a real search, in celebration of the upcoming Ocarina of Time remaster.
