Nutlope/hallmark — Anti-AI-slop design skill for Claude Code, Cursor, and Codex.

Hallmark is a design tool for AI coding assistants like Claude Code, Cursor, and Codex. It helps them build web pages that do not look like they were made by a machine.
What happened
Together AI released Hallmark, a 'design skill' that plugs into several AI coding tools. A skill is a set of instructions that teaches an AI how to do a specific job. Hallmark picks three looks from a catalog of 48 themes, builds a web page around what the visitor wants to do, and then checks the result in a real browser. It looks for common signs of machine-made design.
Key numbers and facts
- 48 themes, each based on a material such as paper, type, colour, and surfaces.
- 755 openly licensed photos, chosen by subject and credited on the page.
- Works with Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, and OpenCode.
- Hallmark picks 3 themes for each build.
Background
Many AI-built websites look alike. They often have a small label above every heading, one coloured word in a headline, empty picture boxes, or an email sign-up at the bottom of every page. Hallmark is built to avoid these patterns. Its checks sort problems into three tiers: Floor (must never ship, such as poor contrast or invented facts), Reflex (common default habits that can be overruled with a good reason), and Finish (small craft details that never block a release).
Why it matters
AI tools can now make websites quickly, but the results often look generic. A tool that pushes AI builds toward more unique, useful pages could help small teams and new builders make better sites. It also shows a new way to check quality: a browser test plus a second AI reviewer that works with fresh context.
What to watch
- Whether people find the pages less generic in real projects.
- How well the 'redesign' and 'audit' commands keep content and links working.
- Whether more AI coding tools add support for skills like this.
