AIFirst seen 16 points
Meta has launched its personal AI agent Muse in Japan. Muse can do tasks for you, like sending emails or booking trips, after you tell it what you need.
Muse arrives in Japan
On October 23, 2026, Meta started offering Muse, its personal AI agent, in Japan. Muse first launched in North America in September. Japan is the first place outside North America where it is available. You can use it through Android and iOS apps, or at muse.ai. For heavier use, Meta offers a paid subscription starting at 2,799 yen per month.
Key facts
- Muse passed 10 million downloads within one month of its North American launch.
- The paid subscription starts at 2,799 yen per month.
- Japan is the first market outside North America.
- Muse can connect to services like Gmail, Google Calendar, and Instagram.
What Muse can do
Muse is designed to be easy to use. You chat with it like you would send a message to a friend, and tell it what you need. Muse then makes a plan and does the work. It can send emails and book trips. You can also give it a bigger goal, such as training for a race. Muse helps build a plan, adjusts your time and resources, and then keeps working on its own. It can even open a browser and fill in forms for you. For slow tasks, Muse keeps going after you close the app. It sends you a notice when something changes or when it needs your approval, such as before sending an email or buying a product. Muse also remembers things that matter to you and uses past chats to make suggestions.
Safety and control
Muse runs in a special virtual computer called Muse Secure VM. Each user gets a private cloud space, so connected data and login details are kept separate. A separate agent called Sentinel controls internet access. Muse cannot see your passwords or payment methods. It asks you before important actions. You can check a history of what Muse has done and what it plans to do next. Meta says that you always stay in control.
Why it matters
Muse shows how AI is moving from answering questions to actually doing tasks. This could save people time with everyday jobs like planning, email, and shopping. Meta is also working with Japanese services such as Mercari, Money Forward ME, and Ticket Pia, so Muse can fit into daily life in Japan. Meta says it will share more about its newer Japan features later.
