Software1 min read

Curry Barker, the director of the hit horror movie Obsession, has posted a new horror short called "Mama Bear" on YouTube. It is a short, creepy video about five minutes long.

A new scary short on YouTube

Curry Barker published a horror short called "Mama Bear" on his YouTube channel. The video is nearly five minutes long and gets a little graphic. Barker wrote, directed, and edited it himself.

Key facts

  • The short is nearly five minutes long.
  • Barker wrote, directed, and edited the film.
  • The video description thanks Windows for "sponsoring this short film."
  • Barker was shown in an Instagram video earlier this week with a Surface laptop.
  • His next movie, Anything but Ghosts, comes out in May 2027.

Horror is big business

Horror films are very popular right now. Backrooms, directed by YouTuber Kane Parsons, was also a big hit at the box office this year. Parsons put out a new Backrooms YouTube episode in August. This shows how YouTube creators are moving into movies.

Why it matters

The story shows how filmmakers and tech brands are working together online. A horror short from a major director on YouTube can reach many viewers fast. It also shows that scary content from YouTube creators is becoming a big part of the movie business.

What to watch

  • Whether Barker releases more short films on YouTube.
  • How Anything but Ghosts does when it opens in May 2027.
  • More brand sponsorships in creator-made horror videos.

AWS will be a $1T business, Jassy says. But first, it will spend big.

Amazon CEO Andy Jassy reiterated on the quarterly earnings call that AWS could become a trillion-dollar revenue business within five to 10 years. Amazon expects about $220 billion in 2026 cash capital expenditures, mostly for AWS, and plans to spend meaningfully more in 2027. AWS revenue rose 39 percent year over year, and Jassy forecast growth above 40 percent in 2027 and 2028, though shares fell about 6% in after-hours trading.

Reddit is moving to “a logged-in-only experience,” CEO says

Reddit CEO Steve Huffman confirmed in a shareholder letter about Q3 performance that the platform is shifting "to a logged-in-only experience." He said the change will give Reddit more signals for ad targeting, protect its data corpus, and help it adapt to emerging regulations, with tests starting in select non-US markets in Q4. Huffman also linked the move to a decline in search referral traffic, warning that daily active unique users could fall by a low-double-digit percentage in Q4 if current trends continue.

Reddit will force everyone to log in

Reddit says it will begin requiring users to log in, first testing the change in select markets outside the US in the coming months, with no definitive timeline for a full rollout. CEO Steve Huffman says the move addresses scraping and automated traffic and improves the user experience and ad business, and that search traffic fell meaningfully in Q3. The announcement came alongside the company's Q3 2026 earnings.
