Stylean to Supply AppSuit to Two Indonesian Banks, a State-Owned Lender and a Regional Bank

Security1 min read

Stealien, a Korean app security company, will supply its mobile app security product AppSuit to two Indonesian banks: state-owned BTN and regional lender Bank Sumut. The deal helps Stealien grow its customer base in Indonesia's banking sector.

What happened

Stealien said on the 20th that it will provide AppSuit, a tool that protects mobile apps, to BTN, a state-owned Indonesian bank, and to Bank Sumut, a regional bank in North Sumatra. BTN compared AppSuit with global security products before choosing it. BTN will first use it in its mobile app for shop owners, then expand it to other mobile services. Bank Sumut looked for a replacement because its old security tool had weak protection and sometimes malfunctioned. After comparison tests, it chose AppSuit for its main mobile banking app.

Key facts

  • Two Indonesian banks are customers: BTN (state-owned) and Bank Sumut (regional, North Sumatra).
  • Other Stealien customers in Indonesia include the finance company Adira Finance, the mobility company Bluebird, and the mobile carrier Telkomsel.
  • AppSuit uses source code obfuscation (making code hard to read), anti-tampering, and integrity checks.

Why apps need protection

Mobile banking apps can be attacked. Hackers may use reverse engineering, which means studying an app's inner code to understand how it works. They can also change an app or turn off its security features. OWASP, an international nonprofit that works on web security, recommends layered defenses such as code obfuscation (scrambling code so it is hard to read) and tamper prevention.

Why it matters

Banks hold money and personal data, so weak apps are a big risk. This deal shows that Stealien's product passed tough comparison tests against global rivals. It also shows that a bank can switch to a new security tool when an old one fails. For Stealien, it is a step toward more business in Indonesia's financial market.

What to watch

  • Whether BTN expands AppSuit from its shop-owner app to its other mobile services.
  • How well AppSuit works in Bank Sumut's main mobile banking app after launch.
  • Whether Stealien wins more banks and financial companies in Indonesia.

The Privacy Risks of "Always-Listening" AI Devices

AI-enabled devices such as smart speakers, smartwatches and smart glasses that are always ready to respond can collect data, raising privacy concerns. Global shipments of AI glasses reportedly jumped to 8.4 million in 2025 from 2.1 million in 2024, according to Omdia data cited by Reuters. Experts warn that bystanders may be monitored without owning any device, and that AI can interpret far more collected information than earlier voice assistants.
