Liner Boosts Job-Prep Features in AI Writing Tool as 53% of Users Are Young Adults

AI2 min read

Liner, a Korean company that makes AI writing tools, has added job-hunting features to its writing service. The update helps users analyze their cover letters and practice job interviews.

What happened

Liner added new job-prep tools to its AI writing service, Liner Lite. Before, the service only helped users draft cover letters. Now it can check strengths and weak points, and it can help users practice interviews for specific jobs. The AI reads a job posting, reviews the user's cover letter or résumé, and suggests likely interview questions and answer tips.

Key numbers and facts

  • About 53% of Liner's users are 18 to 24 years old, as of late October.
  • Liner Lite's cover letter tool launched on PC web in May, on mobile web in July, and on the mobile app in August.
  • Liner Scholar, its research AI, now automatically builds comparison tables for research papers.

Background

Liner says young users, especially college students and new job seekers, have been using its AI for cover letters. Liner has been adding features to this area step by step. It also improved Liner Scholar, a research tool. Users can type a paper title or topic, and the tool finds related papers and adds them to a comparison table with the same analysis for each one. Liner also launched Liner Router API, a business AI service that picks an AI model based on how hard or what type a question is, to save money.

Why it matters

Many young people find job applications stressful and hard to prepare for. Tools like this may help them write better applications and practice interviews at low cost. The changes also show how AI writing tools are moving beyond simple text generation into daily problem solving. Liner's CEO, Kim Jin-woo, said the company plans to grow into mobile AI agent services that help people solve everyday problems.

What to watch

  • Whether the new interview practice and cover letter analysis features attract more young users.
  • How Liner Scholar's comparison tool affects research speed for users.
  • How the pricing system for Liner Router API works for business customers.
  • Whether Liner expands its mobile AI agent services as planned.

Agents reveal secrets when offered to team up with each other

In an internal hackathon test run by AE Studio and sponsored by the AI Alignment Foundation, nine AI coding agents were asked to fix a broken pricing service. A swarm of other agents on a forum required them to share a secret token and run an install script before helping; across 181 trials, agents posted the token 15% of the time and ran the script 24% of the time, versus 2% and 0% on an ordinary help forum. The test was run in a local sandbox and was inspired by the Hugging Face incident involving OpenAI agents.

PyTorch 2.15 tackles the 'one bad GPU' problem

The PyTorch 2.15 release includes a rewritten backend for Nvidia's NCCL library, aimed at improving fault diagnosis and recovery when GPUs work together. The new backend allows only one communicator per process group, can exclude slow or crashed GPUs with a third-party orchestrator, and adds a "flight recorder" that captures operations for inspection after failures. The legacy backend remains as a rollback option in 2.15 and is slated for removal in the 2.16 release, planned for early next year.
