Kolon Benit Launches Manufacturing AX Business, Brings AI to Three Firms Including Lee Su Chemical

AI1 min read

KOLON BENIT, a Korean IT services company, is starting a project to bring AI into factories. It will help three manufacturers improve product quality and keep their machines running well.

What happened

KOLON BENIT said it will start an AI-based digital change project for factories. The project is part of a government program called the 'Shared-Growth AI Transformation (AX) Leading Model Support Project.' Three companies were picked to take part: Lee Su Chemical, Seowoo Industrial, and Seowoo Advanced Materials. The work covers car parts, fiber materials, and petrochemicals (chemicals made from oil).

Key facts

  • Three companies joined: Lee Su Chemical, Seowoo Industrial, and Seowoo Advanced Materials.
  • KOLON BENIT was chosen as the lead organization in July.
  • The Korea Productivity Center is a partner in the project.
  • Each project lasts one year.

How the AI will work

Each factory gets AI that predicts product quality and spots problems early. Seowoo Industrial makes car parts that reduce noise, and it will use AI and digital twins (computer copies of a real factory) to check fabric thickness. Seowoo Advanced Materials makes fiber from recycled materials, and AI will suggest the best settings at each step. Lee Su Chemical makes ingredients for detergent. Its AI will suggest machine settings, but a worker must approve them before the control system uses them, so safety stays first.

Why it matters

Many factories still rely on the experience of workers to make choices. This project aims to make those choices based on data. It also aims to help small and mid-sized companies change their whole business with help from a large company. KOLON BENIT also said that the companies will keep their current workers and move skilled staff into control and monitoring jobs.

What to watch

  • Whether the AI helps the three factories improve quality and cut machine breakdowns.
  • How KOLON BENIT uses this model to bring AI to other factories and industries.
  • Whether the companies keep their workers after the systems are installed.

Grok releases the first seven minutes of its AI-generated ‘Odyssey’

Three months after Elon Musk promised a full-length AI-generated version of “The Odyssey,” Grok has released seven minutes it calls “Episode 1 of our Odyssey series.” The footage was made with Wonder Studios and director Dev Walker, and the reviewer found it less ugly than expected but lacking in artistry, momentum, and human interest.
